NAVAL  COMMUNICATOR  REUNIONS - (2006)

Following are comments are those of the webmaster - Terry Misner

This website is the result of my cyber-surfing and finding a naval communicators website that Winston Smith had developed which no longer exists. In it were details for a 2006 reunion for naval communicators.

With Winston's blessing and help from Bill Poole and Fred McKee, I posted the names of the communicators and friends they had listed on their site to this current one.

When I originally came across the reunion information on Winston's site, I was not aware that communicator reunions existed and asked one of the organizers, Bill Poole, to add my name to their nominal role for future reunion information and invites.

Bill indicated that due to decreasing interest coupled with the decline in the number of former Comm Rates still with us, plus increased reunion costs combined with the huge amount of work required to put these reunions on, their particular organizing committee had decided not to hold any further reunions.

I told Bill I'd like to try for a reunion in Vancouver or Victoria and would get the info out by way of a new website if it was okay with Winston and the rest of the reunion committee. They had no problem with that and Fred McKee sent me a copy of the 2006 mail-out list of Comm Rates which I eventually transferred to this site.

Well, most of what you are reading now was posted a long time ago and sadly, only a few communicators ever responded.  Understandably, times are tough and health issues have crept up on many of us, and likely that's why local reunions are generally the norm these days as opposed to far-reaching ones.

The plan for a reunion in the Vancouver / Victoria area has faded however, if you have some info about a local communicator reunion you'd like posted, please send me some details and I'll post it for you just as quickly as I can.

Thank you for coming by for a visit. Hopefully you've come across a name or two from days gone by that you can reconnect with. So Long Everyone !!

Comm School =Cornwallis= Gone Forever

Following is an item I received a very long time ago from Jim Stutely who received it from Al Pihowich.....

I regret to inform you of the demolition and passing of Comm School, HMCS Cornwallis as duly reported by the mighty Newf (Lennie Power) who resides in Annapolis Royal.

And from Jerry Sigrist who was in Cornwall on business Feb 2007 = "While there I saw them dumping the remnants of Comm School into dump trucks.  A sad day indeed."

And from Douglas Moore (Sept 2009) = If you go to www.cornwallismuseum.ca click "Military Life" then click "Communicators" for some great photos and info.
